Abstract
The goal of the current study was to assess the socioeconomic standing of the Nellore district's P. vannamei shrimp producers. This study was carried out in several mandals within the reformed Nellore district in 2024–2025. Age, education, occupation, caste, kind of dwelling, farming experience, land holding, and income were all examined in relation to the socioeconomic standing of P. vannamei prawn farmers. Five mandals and twenty-two villages from Nellore district's twelve mandals were purposefully chosen for the current study using the proportionate and easy random selection technique. With the help of a well-structured questionnaire, a sample size of 356 respondents was chosen from the district's designated mandals for the particular purpose. The majority of P. vannamei shrimp farmers in the Nellore district were between the ages of 31 and 40 (36.0%), had only one occupation (61.0%), belonged to the forward cast (40.0%), owned 1-2 acres of land (50.0%), had RCC-style homes (73.0%), and earned an annual income of Rs. 3.5 lakh (38.0%). The study came to the conclusion that socioeconomic benefits had been demonstrated by the application of BMPs in the P. vannamei culture of the study area.
