Abstract
Crabs live in some of the most variable habitats on Earth, including estuaries, mangroves, mudflats of dam andponds, rocky shores of river and Nala, and the open sea. Their survival, growth, molting, reproduction, and behavior depend heavily on the physical and chemical condition of the water. This article explores how the key physicochemical parameters (temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, nitrogenous wastes, hardness and calcium, turbidity, and pollutants) affect crabs Barytelphousa cunicularies in Marathwada region. The burrowing crab Barytelphusa cunicularis is most abundant in Godavari River and its tributaries. Present study deals with study of fresh water crabs Barytelphousa cunicularies in river Shivna, the tributaries of Godavari River in Kannad region.
